How to Diagnose a Self-Priming Lift Pump That Will Not Catch Prime

Self-Priming Pump Won't Prime in one line: A self-priming lift pump that will not catch prime has usually lost the reservoir of priming water it needs to start, or is admitting air through a suction leak or a leaking check valve faster than it can expel, or has worn wear rings that leak internally and cannot pull the vacuum.
